Business Rules and Automations

Business rules and automations in Turris help streamline your operations by automatically enforcing compliance requirements and managing routine tasks. These settings allow you to customize how your account handles various aspects of agency management.

Read the step-by-step guide below or check out the video walkthrough.

Accessing Business Rules

  1. Navigate to Settings in your dashboard
  2. Click on Business Rules
  3. You'll see all available business rules and automation options

Note: Turris continuously adds new business rules and automations to enhance platform functionality.

Configuring Coverage Requirements

E&O and Cyber Insurance Minimums

Set minimum coverage requirements that apply across all E&O and cyber policies:

  • Minimum Aggregate Coverage: Default is $5 million
  • Minimum Per Claim Coverage: Default is $1 million

These limits are currently aggregated across any policy type collected. Future updates will allow separate limits for different policy types.

Setting Up Policy Management Automations

Policy Expiry Grace Period

Configure when to start collecting updated documents before policies expire:

  1. Set the number of days before expiration to begin outreach
  2. Default setting is 30 days

When enabled, the system automatically sends email reminders to agencies with expiring policies.

Automated Policy Retrieval

Enable automatic collection of E&O and cyber policies:

  1. Toggle Automation of Policy Retrieval to ON
  2. Choose whether to Enforce for all existing agencies
  3. When enabled:
    • System automatically requests documents from agencies
    • Sends email cadences until documents are received
    • Reduces manual follow-up requirements

Note: You may need to intervene if agencies don't respond after policy expiration.

Agency Onboarding Automations

Automatic Compliance Authorization

Control whether agencies are automatically approved upon onboarding:

  • When ON: Agencies that meet compliance requirements in at least one state are automatically authorized
  • When OFF: Manual approval required for each agency
  • Ideal for MGAs comfortable with automatic approval for compliant producers

Agent Upload Limits

Protect against excessive NPN uploads that could impact costs:

  1. Set maximum number of agents an agency can upload automatically
  2. Default recommendation: 10 agents
  3. Uploads exceeding this limit require manual approval
  4. Helps control costs related to NPN coverage limits in your contract

Global Onboarding Requirements

Configure what information agencies must provide during onboarding:

Required Documents

  • Toggle Cyber Policies requirement ON/OFF
  • Applies globally to all new agency onboardings

Product and State Selection

  • Enable/disable requirement for agencies to select:
    • Which products they'll sell
    • Which states they'll operate in
  • Helps ensure proper compliance from the start

Payment Details Collection

  • Toggle whether to collect payment information during onboarding
  • Can be overridden for individual agencies

Customizing for Individual Agencies

While business rules apply globally, you can override settings for specific agencies:

  1. Navigate to the individual agency profile
  2. Adjust business rules as needed
  3. These custom settings supersede global rules

Best Practices

  • Start Conservative: Begin with stricter rules and relax them as you become comfortable with the automation
  • Monitor Compliance: Regularly review agencies approaching policy expiration
  • Balance Automation: Find the right mix of automation and manual oversight for your risk tolerance
  • Review Periodically: As your business grows, revisit these settings to ensure they still meet your needs

Turris regularly adds new business rules and automation features. Check back periodically for:

  • Additional customization options
  • New automation workflows
  • Enhanced compliance features
  • More granular control over policy requirements
